Delicious Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

The kitchen is a great place for children to learn and experience new things.  I grew up in the kitchen with my Mom and remember licking the batter and always smelling yummy food…I still do!

When we started this blog at The Help Company, my Mom had a wonderful idea.  She thought about posting fun weekly recipes.  I asked her provide me with recipes that parents or nannies could do with children.  The following is her first recipe that she is sharing with us.  Thanks Mom!

ICE CREAM CONE CUPCAKES

“Speaking from experience, I would like to share some special and very fond memories with all of you out there.  I have always enjoyed cooking with my three children, Hillary twenty -nine, Stephen twenty-seven, and Melanie twenty-four.  One of their favorite birthday treats at home or at school (pre-school to third grade) were these fabulous ice cream cone cupcakes.  Choose your child’s favorite flavor cake mix.  Using a cupcake tin, place a sugar ice cream cone in each space. Follow the directions for baking directly off the cake mix box.   Fill each cone three-fourths full, and let your child watch them rise through the oven door with the oven light on.  Let the cone cupcakes cool and begin the fun, decorating with your child.  You can use any flavor frostings, sprinkles, coconut, whatever you like. Your child will be so excited with his or her creative treats. You can also include your party guests in decorating at home or if you choose, take these treats to your child’s classroom and let the class decorate together.  This food project is fun, easy, and creative.  Make sure you pay attention to the facial expressions on everyone, “big eyes”, “big smiles”, and “big appetites”.    Until we chat again….your friend, Linda Levi-Baum”
